The charming little town of Rhede is often referred to as “The Smile of the Münsterland”. With its abundance of greenery and lively atmosphere, it brings a smile to the faces of its visitors. Situated between Bocholt and Borken, Rhede offers not only its own attractions but also many appealing destinations in the surrounding area. Whether on foot or by bike – the varied landscape between the Netherlands and the Lower Rhine is well worth exploring.
In the town centre, numerous historic buildings invite you to explore. The townscape is dominated by the imposing St. Gudula Church. Around the church, there are numerous restaurants and cafés, which attract visitors with their outdoor seating, especially in fine weather. The shopping street invites you to take a leisurely stroll through the town’s shops. In bad weather, the Medicine and Pharmacy Museum is a popular destination.
The year is marked by events such as ‘Maiensonntag’, the ‘Rheder Kirmes’ or ‘Rhede’s Winter Fairytale with a Moonlight Stroll’ in the cosy town centre. A visit to the impressive Rhede Castle, located just a few metres from the town centre, is also a must.
The district of Borken offers a charming landscape with opportunities for peace and relaxation, attractive towns and culturally and historically significant buildings, including numerous castles and manor houses surrounded by magnificent parks. The region can be wonderfully explored by bike, either on signposted cycle paths or on routes of your own choosing. Along the way, the local restaurants invite you to enjoy a hearty or sweet snack.
The district of Borken is also an ideal starting point for trips to the Netherlands. With a shared border of 108 kilometres, there are many interesting destinations in the neighbouring country, such as the attractive city centre of Enschede or the weekly market in Winterswijk. For spontaneous cyclists, the district of Borken offers countless possibilities: Circular routes, themed routes or rides along small ‘Pättkes’ can be combined as desired into day trips or multi-day tours. The ‘Fietsenbus’ makes it easy to extend your range: during the cycling season from 1 May to 3 October, several bus routes are equipped with bike trailers on Sundays and public holidays.

In the event of withdrawal from the tenancy agreement, the tenant is obliged to pay a portion of the agreed price as compensation. Cancellation must be made in writing. The amount of compensation depends on the time remaining until the day of arrival and is calculated as follows: up to 31 days before the arrival date: 30%; from 30 days before the arrival date: 50% of the agreed rental price; up to 2 weeks before the arrival date: 80% of the agreed rental price; up to 1 week before the arrival date: 90% of the agreed rental price; and in the event of a no-show: 90% of the agreed rental price. We recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance.
Cancellation by the landlord
In the event of cancellation on our part, due to force majeure or other unforeseeable circumstances (such as an accident or illness affecting the hosts, or other circumstances beyond our control that make fulfilment impossible), liability is limited to the reimbursement of costs. In the event of a justified cancellation, the customer shall have no claim for damages – no liability shall be accepted for travel and hotel costs. The landlord may terminate the tenancy after the start of the tenancy without notice if the tenant persistently disturbs other tenants despite a warning or behaves in such a manner contrary to the contract that immediate termination of the tenancy agreement is justified.
